I would like to let you all know you can breath a sigh of relief because this is the last time I will be calling out the number of the entry in word form, the first 5 were important to me, as they are my First Five entries, however you will not see this blog page calling out "Twenty-Fifth Blogtemplation Entry", I will creatively write a title that best fits the blog of that moment. Thank you for playing along with the First Five.
I do however enjoy the term "Blogtemplation" and that may survive repetition...
Today's Fifth Entry is going to discuss a word that has been floating in my world and hemispheres of my brain lately, so I thought it might be valuable and deep in meaning to make it my Fifth Entry to round out the First Five entries.
The topic is the term "Intimacy"
So let's start with a Definition, and this comes from Dictionary.com, I hope the editors of Dictionary.com allow me the sharing of this term as I open up discussion.
The definition breaks down in this way:
1. The state of being intimate.
2. A close, familiar, and usually affectionate or loving personal relationship with another person or group.
3. A close association with or detailed knowledge or deep understanding of a place, subject, period of history, etc.
4. An act or expression serving as a token of familiarity, affection, or the like: to allow the intimacy of using first names.
5. An amorously familiar act; liberty.
I would like to open up the idea that this term has many implications and unfortunately carries an ever extrodinary battle between deepening and destroying relationships between people. In the month of February when Valentine's day strikes the marketplace, the word intimacy is thrown about with passion and physical affection and tempting the thoughts of lovers abound. This has a place and certainly has the power to bring two lovely, peaceful, and nurting souls together, in physical bliss and satisfaction. I persuade that this finds itself true in the most positive and encouraging sense between committed endearing people.
There are some undertones that suggest a negative and destructive force in this term and that ellude to forbidden intimacy and also inflict upon the physical nature of this term. I will spend very little time on this particular avenue of description as it does not need to do any more damage than it already does without help.
There is a more enlightening, uplifting, theraputic, supportive, growth inspiring, balanced, and several more words I would love to write but need to move on to the point regarding this sense of the term. So I ask you to re-read the definitions above and key into the definitions that use the following words; close association, deep understanding, familiarity, an act or expression serving as a token of familiarity, liberty.
Liberty, of all words, liberty. As in freedom and an ability to express oneself with another freely. I propose that this term carries a power and an embodiment that people have either forgotten, or they secretly keep to themselves in small circles and are scared to admit or support it's powerful connection to unlocking the human spirit's potential and embracing a stronger, more powerful, and fuller sense of self that only perpetuates the fulfillment of people's dreams, aspirations, and connection to hope, confidence, and engagement into life that through the journey of life can bring success and happiness that the Constitution of the United States says we have the Right to pursue!
I plea to you, the society of people in small and large places across the world, that we open our eyes a little wider, stretch our hearts a little fuller in each beat, open our minds a little deeper to the possibility, and suggest to say that Intimacy is something that has a righteous and beneficial place in our lives. The definition even states "relationship with another person or group.", and it does not define that once you find that other person that your intimacy limit is closed, no, I believe that "close association" strengthens us as humans and as people, and we should look to the value which we experience because of intimacy. I promise that I will not be heavilty or overtly biblical throughout this site and the blogs to come, so I ask your forgiveness when I add that the bible even speaks and proclaims the intimacy that God wants with His people, and why can't His people be everyone on this Earth? Don't debate this one through detailed description from Revelations, it will just save everyone grief, however I am open to the merit of debate on this topic in whole, so do not be detered to respond. I digress...
Intimacy... I believe there is a beautiful and wonderful power in the purity of close association and deep understanding of each other in friendly relationships.
In Summary, this Fifth Blogtemplation Entry is a stance on the terms of understanding and acceptance of the word "Intimacy", the deep understanding of the term, the detailed knowledge of the term, the token of familiarity the term offers, the liberty we must not forget about this term and how we can believe in the hope it inspires and the promise it supports as we pursue our happiness.
